Houlvek

Cookie Policy

How cookies and similar storage technologies are used on Houlvek.

This page describes the current application configuration. It must be reviewed whenever Houlvek adds or changes analytics, advertising, support widgets or other technologies that store or access information on a user device.

1. Essential cookies and browser storage

Houlvek uses cookies or similar browser storage where strictly necessary for requested platform functions such as authentication, account sessions, security and reliable operation. Blocking essential storage may prevent signed-in or security-sensitive features from working correctly.

2. Authentication and security

Authentication and session information is used to recognise signed-in users, protect account access and maintain secure platform workflows. This storage is used for providing the service and security rather than advertising or cross-site behavioural tracking.

3. Houlvek notice preference

When you dismiss the privacy and storage notice, Houlvek stores the key houlvek_cookie_notice in your browser's local storage. It records only the displayed notice version so the same notice is not shown on every page. It is not used for advertising, cross-site tracking or user profiling. You can clear that choice at any time with the persistent Privacy Choices control in the footer.

4. Cookieless traffic analytics

When enabled in the Production environment, Houlvek uses privacy-focused first-party analytics to understand aggregate page views, referral sources, approximate country, browser, operating system and device category. This measurement does not use cookies, persistent identifiers or cross-site tracking, and Houlvek does not use it to create advertising profiles. The analytics provider uses a temporary request-derived visitor hash and discards the visitor session identifier after 24 hours.

5. External service interactions

Some requested platform features interact with specialist external services, including secure payment processing, mapping and HGV routing, and an optional embedded business-address map. The embedded map is disabled by default and is not requested from the external map service until the user chooses to load it. Before that choice, the business address remains available without loading the embedded map. When a user chooses to load an external feature, that service may use its own necessary technologies to provide it.

6. Consent and user choice for non-essential technologies

Houlvek does not activate cookie-based analytics, advertising or similar device-storage technologies before any consent required by applicable UK rules has been obtained. The current aggregate traffic measurement is cookieless and does not store or access an analytics identifier on the user's device. For an optional embedded third-party feature, Houlvek may instead ask the user to make a clear feature-specific choice at the point of use. The user is told that an external service will be contacted before that feature is loaded.

7. Browser controls

Users can use browser settings to inspect, block or clear cookies and other stored site data. Clearing essential authentication or security storage may sign the user out or prevent protected features from working until a new session is established.

8. Review of storage technologies

Houlvek reviews this policy when browser storage, analytics, advertising, support widgets, payment integrations or other device technologies materially change. The Production browser-storage inventory must remain checked against this policy so that the description and any required controls stay accurate.
